Property of the month: History Woven Throughout

Zoe Napier Country & Equestrian, covering Essex and South Suffolk have recently been favoured to sell this Stunning Tudor style residence, with a jettied front elevation, set in four acres on the Coggeshall Road, just outside Braintree near Stisted.
The property was carefully constructed around 1933 by a local inspirational businessman named Nelson Moody who recreated its Tudor design largely out of 16th century materials including some oak panelling and doors originating from Cambridge University’s library.  There are snippets of history carefully woven into every corner and crevice.
The 20ft beam in the lounge was negotiated for over a bottle of port from a local builder’s yard and the stain glass windows were inspired from Mr Moody’s many visits to Cathedral cities.
Mr Moody himself was a skilled wood carver who has left his own mark in the property such as the grape vine carvings along the cross beam in the hall on the occasion of King George V’s jubilee amongst other delightful; and historic carvings.  The main fabric of the building was constructed with just as much passion using original Tudor bricks and locally acquired solid oak timbers.
Today the house retains much of its original character whilst having been sympathetically modernised and improved by its current owners to create a substantial and comfortable three storey family home with up to five large double bedrooms, landscaped grounds and equestrian facilities.
The accommodation offers an impressive oak panelled galleried entrance hall with three principal reception rooms, all well-proportioned with fireplaces in the main drawing room and formal dining room. There is also a study which is large enough for a second sitting/tv room if preferred.
The recently fitted kitchen/breakfast room features attractive stressed oak fronted units with antique style door furniture beneath solid wood work surfaces with integrated appliances, butler sink and a chimney breast recess housing a Rayburn.
The galleried landing leads to three double bedrooms with a principle suite which includes bay window seating and a large en-suite bathroom with separate shower and Jacuzzi bath.
A second staircase leads to the top floor with two further large interconnecting bedrooms which could serve as a teenage suite.
The property nestles behind high conifer and dog-proof fenced boundaries with two pairs of GSM automated security entrance gates leading to a carriage style drive with ample parking at the front and rear, including access to a triple garage building.
There are established and attractive formal grounds with excellent equestrian facilities including paddock land and a Chart stable block consisting of three loose boxes and a tack room. Adjacent to the stabling is a very useful all-weather manege. Recent modern additions outside include a macadam all-weather tennis court with chain link fencing and an attractive raised decking platform with pergola and BBQ area.
Planning permission has been approved to significantly extend the property further and also to construct a detached indoor pool/leisure building.
The property is well placed on the edge of Stisted (recently awarded Essex Village of The Year 2011) and is about 1.5 miles from Braintree (London branch line station) and Freeport designer shopping centre. It is within walking distance from Tesco shopping, whilst Stansted Airport and the M11 are only a 20 minute drive away. Couple this convenience with Colne Valley and Essex/Suffolk borders within a 10 minute drive and it is an ideal location.
The guide price is £1,095,000 and further information can be obtained from Zoe Napier Country & Equestrian on (01621) 840333, via email on info@zoenapier.co.uk or visit www.inthecountryside.com
