The 2011 Pony European Championship results are in, held this year in Jaszkowo, Poland. We bring you the results eventing, showjumping and dressage, including two fantastic results from Essex competitors eventer Madeleine Taylor and dressage rider Gabrielle Lucas.
Eventing
The eventing team consisting of Sophie Beaty, Sam Ecroyd, Grace Walker, Janou Bleekman won Bronze for GB, with Sam Ecroyd & Three Wells Breeze finishing in second & taking Silver individually.
Hooked on Horses Columnist & individual competitor for GB, Maddie Taylor riding Bandelera finished on her dressage score in ninth place. Be sure to pick up a copy of Hooked on Horses Magazine to find out all about the championships in Maddie’s own words.
France won Individual & Team Gold with Ireland beating GB into second place by just 0.4 pens, mainly due a compulsory retirement of Noble Springbok, Grace Walkers outstanding pony that was sitting in individual Bronze position overnight, at the final vets inspection following the loss of a shoe cross-country on the Saturday afternoon.
Showjumping
As well as team gold earlier in the week Sunday afternoon saw individual gold for Brit Beth Vernon riding Falaza & indvidual bronze for fellow British rider Jessica Mendoza riding Tixylix.
Dressage
Gabrielle Lucas earnt her first Union Jack pocket badge with her palomino gelding Top Star. The Brentwood, Essex based rider was part of the pony dressage team that placed forth.
