DUKE OF ESSEX POLO ROUND-UP

On Saturday 9th July 2011 the 6th Duke of Essex Polo trophy took place at Gaynes Park in Epping with crowds flooding to the sun soaked venue for an action packed day of showjumping, Jousting, Shetland Dinky Derby, Black Nights skydive and of couse the Duke of Essex International Polo match. 
The main event of the day at the Show Jumping arena was the Team Jumping event with no less than 14 teams all fighting it out for top spot.
It came down to the wire with two teams jumping off for top spot, pick up the August edition of Hooked on Horses magazine for full results & photos from the day.
The main event of the day started with Peter Andre throwing in the ball and quickly scurrying for safety as the two teams battled it out for the Duke of Essex Polo Trophy.
The Duke of Essex UK team, led by the highly experienced Shane Younger were up against a young, level headed South America team led by Juan Munro. Goals were plenty in this match with England scoring in the opening 20 seconds with a high flying shot from Talamoni. South America soon answered back to take the lead at 2-1, which they held all the way up to the 3rd chukka when England levelled at 7-7. It was Shane and his team who came out victorious though with 2 fine goals in quick succesion in the final chukka to win the match & retain the Duke of Essex Polo.
