Horse Colleges & Universities

Horse SchoolPerhaps one of the best ways to stay on top of the equine industry is being formally educated at a credible equine educational facility. Luckily there are a lot of them out there and some of them even offer online courses.

So Many Schools

While this is a big list it isn’t a complete one. However I will continue to add new schools as I find them, so be sure to check back. For now there is plenty of education here to chew on and hopefully you can find one near you.

Black Hawk College - Offers an Equestrian Science Associate Applied Science Degree which offers classroom instruction & lab exercises paired with on-the-job experience.
Cal Poly Pomona - An agricultural school with a wide variety of related equine & vet courses
Cal Poly San Louis Obispo - Offers a large equine program with a variety of specific courses, internships & projects.
Centenary College: Equine Studies - Offer quite a few horse-specific degreesincluding a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies with a variety of concentrations. Also offer an Associates in Science in Equine Studies, equine studies semesters abroad & internship opportunities.
Central Texas College - Offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in the specialized area of Equine Science. This is an entry level short option to prepare those who want to move on in equine science.
College of Southern Idaho - Offer a variety of agricultural programs includingHorse Management & Equine Studies with several Associate degree options and a Technical Certificate in Horse Management.
CSU Fresno Equine Program - Offers two different equine degrees. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science with an Equine emphasis & a Master of Science Degree program in Animal Science with a research focus on equine science.
Ellsworth Community College - Offers courses designed to help prepare students for a career in the horse industry. Including two Associate degree options and an Equine Management Practitioner Diploma.
Ethel Walker School - Offers a complete immersion educational riding programthat provides instruction on everything from stable management to show jumping.
Feather River College - Offers an Equine Studies Program allows students to become an active part in all aspects of a working horse ranch.
Johnson & Wales University - Offers equine degrees at their Providence Campusincluding a Bachelors of Science Degree as well as Equine Business Management courses.
Kemptville College – University of Guelph - Offers a campus equine program as well as online certification between them both students can earn anything from a Bachelors of Bio-Resource Equine Management to coaching certification to equine-assisted learning courses.
Kirkwood Community College - Offers a Horse Science Technology Programdesigned to prepare students for a wide variety of careers in the horse industry.
Lake Erie College - Offers a variety of different equine educational paths including entrepreneurship, management & training. As well as a variety of minors, concentrations, internships, studying abroad programs & vet school prep.
Meredith Manor - A nationally accredited equestrian career college created exclusively to train students for successful careers working with horses.
Michigan State University - Offers a large selection of Equine education & research. Offering everything from 2 & 4 year programs to higher education for those who want to become involved in equine medicine research or vet school. They have an Equine Performance Center.
Midway College - Offers several equine-specific degrees including a Bachelors of Science in Equine Studies in Health & Rehabilitation, a Bachelors of Arts in Equine Management & and Associates in Equine Management.
Mount Ida College - Offers an equine management bachelor degree program that covers all facets of the horse industry. Curriculum is geared specifically towards hunt seat riders & high-level competition.
North Central Texas College – Offers an Equine Science Program that provides a well-rounded general education plan for those who want to pursue equine careers.
Northwest College - Offers a wide variety of equine study programs including business management, care & riding and farrier school.
Ohio University Southern Campus - Offer courses at their 200 acre Ohio Horse Park including equine studies & theraputic riding.
Oklahoma Horseshoeing School - Dedicated specifically to learning the farrier trade, they offer 4 different courses to choose from and offer courses to international students.
Parkland College - Offers equine management programs & certificates offering a good start to those who want to move on to larger schools for more specific schooling.
St. Andrews Presbyterian College - Offers a wide variety of equine academic opportunities & competitions including business management, therapeutic horsemanship & pre-vet options.
University of Arizona - Offers a wide variety of animal & agriculture based study programs including animal science, vet programs & a racetrack industry track .
University of Findlay - Has a reasonable sized equine studies department and provides English/ Western specific courses and study programs.
University of Louisville College of Busines - Features an equestrian business program and a variety of student equine organizations.
University of Maryland - Offers a wide variety of equine related courses in their large equine studies program including on-campus facilities.
West Texas A&M University - Offers an equine industry undergrad degree as well as graduate studies for advanced areas.
William Woods University - Created the first four year equestrian science degree program in the country.
